It goes so quickly…

Our time home has come and gone and this morning back we go!! Suitcases are all loaded in Laura’s car, she’s taking us to the airport and we are heading off to Halifax now to fly back to China. We will land there tomorrow evening. Can’t say I am looking forward to the long flight ( 2 hours to Toronto+ 13 hours to Beijing + a little over an hour to Shenyang)  but I love the scenery flying in to Beijing Capital

and I am ALWAYS ready to get back to Shenyang, the busy city of 8 million people. I miss the lights and my amazing view. It really has become our home away from home 🙂

Easter Sunday

Easter Sunday…one of my MOST favourite days of the year!

It is so nice to be home and celebrate with my family. Family Church together and then Easter Dinner at my parents with my family and my sister’s family.

And then spend the afternoon and evening with James & Laura at Peggy’s cove. Just a wonderful Easter Sunday!

It’s Wedding Day!

Well Rachel, the day is FINALLY here!! I am so excited for you and Gerald and so happy we could be home to see your marriage and celebrate with you!

TODAY our sweet niece, David’s older brother’s daughter marries her best friend! A beautiful Spring wedding in picturesque Mahone Bay in one of the famous 3 churches ( the middle one to be exact).

It was a wonderful day celebrating with our family.

All dressed up and ready to go!

What a beautiful wedding! And just like that she is Mrs. Gerald Buchanan. Congratulations!

It feels like Sunday

Today feels like Sunday. Maybe because we went to  Good Friday service at our church and then a Cinnamon Bun Social. Special times with our church family!

Then just a relaxing day… and a nap!

..James is home for the weekend ( he’s the photographer tomorrow) It’s so great to see and spend time with all our kids!

And…Laura had to work today BUT we took Andrew & Kristina and James out for skins. Back to Grand Banker tonight for some appetizers and dinner and just a fun night with our kids.( missed you Laura)

And when you put my boys together for an evening it’s always interesting…

A Nova Scotia Icon

What two things come to mind when you think Nova Scotia?

For Me? It’s The Bluenose and Peggy’s Cove.

The Bluenose was a Canadian fishing and racing schooner from Nova Scotia built in 1921. It was a celebrated racing ship and hard-working fishing vessel that became a provincial icon for Nova Scotia and an important Canadian symbol in the 1930s.The Bluenose II, a replica of the Bluenose was built in 1963 as a promotional yacht for Oland Brewery and became Nova Scotia’s sailing ambassador in 1971. The provincial and federal government announced support for a major restoration of the Bluenose II. After many months the Bluenose II returned to the water on September 6, 2013 and will undergo dock and sea trials before being handed over to the province for tourist duty. As of March 2014, the vessel is currently tied up at the Lunenburg Foundry wharf in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia.

Peggy’s Cove is a small rural community located on the eastern shore of St. Margaret’s Bay which is famous for the Peggy’s Point Lighthouse ( established in 1868) Peggy’s Cove is primarily a tourist attraction, and many artists and photographers flock to Peggy’s Cove, .although its inhabitants still fish for lobster, and the community maintains a rustic undeveloped appearance. The regional municipality and the provincial government have strict land-use regulations in Peggy’s Cove, with most property development being prohibited. There are restrictions on who can live in the community to prevent inflation of property values for year-round residents.

Today was a clear crisp day and since we had an appointment in the city and had to wait a few hours,  we decided to take a side trip to Peggy’s cove. It was windy and cold but we had this AMAZING view to ourselves…before all the tourists flock here in the next few months!

This CrAzY Canadian weather!

Yesterday 20 degrees and SUN. Today raining cats and dogs and sooo WINDY!

BUT in New Brunswick and parts of Ontario it’s snowing!!!! YES SNOWING! It’s April 16th and still snow in Eastern Canada this year.

It’s a good thing David did a bit of yard work yesterday…ohhh our lawn is a mess 😦

James was planning on driving home from New Brunswick for the Easter/Wedding weekend after he gets off work today. Hmmm…maybe he should wait til tomorrow?

( Cheryl I borrowed your pic for my blog of New Brunswick roads)

And I don’t know if it’s because of this cRaZy weather or not BUT i’ve had the worst cold and stuffiness that I’ve had in a very long time which is making me tired and miserable. It won’t go away!!! I was hoping to get feeling really great out of the pollution for awhile but NOPE, this has me feeling worse. Good news for Abby though because the days I’m not pushing myself to do stuff because we are only home for a bit, I’m on the couch and she’s on my lap!

Happy Wednesday everyone! At least it’s rain this Wednesday and not snow in NS. 🙂
