Someone’s Field of Dreams! “If you build it, they will come…”
Costa Maya, Mexico is located on a peninsula along Mexico’s Caribbean coast about 100 miles south of Playa del Carmen. It’s like a private island created from scratch expressly for cruisers. Developers created the port terminal and faux village complex just for cruise lines, and everything with passengers in mind. It’s beautiful, VERY colourful! So instead of booking an excursion we thought we’d poke around the “cruise village” a bit and then go to Mahahual (also known as Majahual), a at one time fishing village of 200 people that’s about a 30-minute walk or just a short cab ride away. There are seaside hotels, restaurants, dive shops and beach clubs that serve fresh fish and offer water activities along lovely white sand beaches.
And not only fish but lobster. A beautiful beach with many many choices. Every local your friend offering a free drink if you stopped at their spot. We decided on the Krazy Lobster ( the name amused this Nova Scotian girl) and enjoyed a piña colada, lobster tacos, and free wifi in a shady spot under a palm tree with a beautiful view of the beach and our ship. Another hot sunny day in the Caribbean. We have been having 28 degree days consistently. It’s hard to do things where your not in full sun.
