Although he has a quite different origin, in the English-speaking world, Father Christmas is now associated with the development in the United States and Canada of Santa Claus.
Well Mahone Bay has a Father Christmas Festival. It takes place from November 28- Dec 7th. This is the very first time we have been home for this event and I was so excited! I LOVE stuff like this.
There are Father Christmas figures all over the town of Mahone Bay. It was so much fun to walk around and look at them. There were even horse and wagon rides.
We made sure we stopped at our favourite shop to pick up the annual ornament. Amos Pewter has been making these beautiful pewter ornaments since 1975. I just started collecting them a few years ago and may one day update my collection to include all of them. I love this tree in their shop that displays them.
My absolute favourite think to enjoy at the Festival was The Land of Christmas Fantasy and of course The Gourmet Food Market. I loved this part so much!!!! There were beautiful detailed Father Christmas figures ( even an Asian one) and the gourmet foods…yum!!
PS~ And of course we picked up a couple gourmet treats to bring home!!
