Last trip across the pond.

Saying Goodbye is never easy. Especially when you have to do it from an airport and then fly 16-17 hours actual fly time plus long airport layovers. It’s brutal especially if there are any delays or airport security issues and hassles.

Our Chinese friends came to Taoxian  Airport to say goodbye. I don’t know if that was a good thing or not…so very emotional.

The flight from Shenyang to Beijing was great, no issues at all. We had a 4 hour layover in Beijing so we had something to eat and relaxed. I was so tired from not sleeping the night before.

IMG_2420 IMG_2426 IMG_2427 IMG_2419 IMG_2431 IMG_2432 IMG_2439We had one little glitch to deal with before boarding our big flight but I was too tired to even let it bother me. Before long we were in our regular seats 25A,B and leaving Beijing Airport. We had a super flight attendant ( Christine) that made our last flight so wonderful. It means so much when you travel a fair bit and especially these days when everyone seems just a little uneasy about flying. I slept more on this flight and even missed the middle of the night noodles meal!

We were an hour delayed leaving Beijing so arrived in Toronto one hour late but had a 4 hour lay and we breezed through customs with our paperwork of shipment to follow and were soon enjoying our favourite Canadian treat.

IMG_2517 IMG_2522 IMG_2527 IMG_2528Toronto to Halifax completed a very FULL day of flying. Michelin arranged Woods Limousine service to pick us up at the airport in a nice large black Buick Navigator and this was the VERY BEST trip home from the airport. Not only were we going home to stay but I didn’t have to stay awake to make sure David was awake driving!

We got home at 4am, jumped on Laura & our dog and woke them up, chatted with James & Laura and got a few hours sleep and then it was up and off to church, Mom’s for lunch and she made one of my favourites. Home for a couple hours nap while David mowed the lawn and then a great visit from our oldest son and his fiancé. Now the unpacking and arranging begins. I need to take back my home and make it mine again after being gone. Well I guess you’ll know what I will be doing this week!

Adventure For Two

I am from Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, Canada and I'm back from traveling with my husband on an expat assignment to foreign lands. 2011-2012 we were in Shenyang, China. Spring 2012- Spring 2013 we were in Resende,RJ Brazil then back to Shenyang, China in July 2013 until the end of July 2014. Expat life WAS amazing! Adventure abounds no matter where we travel to. We really enjoyed the amazing opportunity to live and experience culture and tradition in these places. BUT now we are finished and adjusting to life in our small town in Canada. Our days of travel and adventure are not over.
