After a month…

Well tonight concludes a month long of football. It’s been great watching the World Cup in China, actually almost better than if we were in Brazil and certainly better than if we were home in Canada. Chinese LOVE football as I mentioned before and so everyone watches it, discusses it, make their predictions and some bet money on the games. It’s been really interesting and kinda tiring at the same time with the time difference and always wanting to see certain teams play live. We can see it live on a Chinese channel, but then a little later in the morning in English in case we didn’t wake up early.

Yesterday, unfortunately Brazil lost to Netherlands placing them 4th overall. I will admit I am disappointed. It would have been so great for Brazil to win this year. And I feel really sad about Neymar. Hopefully, this injury won’t keep him down and he’ll be back at it, playing the game he so loves.

So after a month, it’s one more night of getting up early, real early, to see the closing ceremony too! Gotta see Shakira, right? So I set my alarm for 1:20am!

And then I dozed again until the game at 3am.

It’s Germany and Argentina for 1st! And since Brazil is not in the final, I am cheering for Argentina. And besides Lionel Messi and Neymar are Barcelona team mates. We visited Argentina when we were living in Brazil and went to the  Bombonera stadium in Beunos Aries, home of world famous Argentina football player Maradona. So cool!

At half time the score was 0-0, which is ok. A lot of great saves by the Argentina goalie. The only problem with watching the World Cup Final in Asia is that the Half Time snackies aren’t near as good as say…Sunday Night Superbowl Snacks. It was coffee and toast for this girl! haha 😀

IMG_2058It was so frustrating sometimes…lots of opportunity at the net for Argentina but they just weren’t making the shots. Such a great game to watch though for the Final. At the end of regulation the score was still 0-0. So…it’s in to double overtime! 1-0 for Germany but such a great game.

As the sun is setting in Brazil and a new day, a busy day for us in China has begun, Germany wins and another World Cup has finished. Now, I’m off to bed for a little nap before the moving company comes to pack us up!

Adventure For Two

I am from Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, Canada and I'm back from traveling with my husband on an expat assignment to foreign lands. 2011-2012 we were in Shenyang, China. Spring 2012- Spring 2013 we were in Resende,RJ Brazil then back to Shenyang, China in July 2013 until the end of July 2014. Expat life WAS amazing! Adventure abounds no matter where we travel to. We really enjoyed the amazing opportunity to live and experience culture and tradition in these places. BUT now we are finished and adjusting to life in our small town in Canada. Our days of travel and adventure are not over.
