The World Cup Starts Today!

I am SURPRISED!! It is BIG news even here in China! How I wish we were in Brazil today, not really, but kind of. It is just so much excitement around these huge events. We were there last year when it was the FiFA Confederations Cup  and went to the Maracana Stadium in Rio to watch Brazil and England play as a kick off to the games and it was a highlight of our year there. If we lived in Brazil we would once again go see a game. But then I remember ahhh yes…Brazil…there is also the crazy protests and violence that goes along with this kind of stuff. Such a shame really because the whole world is watching.

So the FiIFA 2014 World Cup starts today, actually 4am today ( Friday) to correspond with the actual Thursday Night Kick OFF in Brazil! JLo sang at the opening! And I set my clock to get up early and watch. Yes I am a fan! And…I will be cheering for Brazil all the way!

This morning, it was Brazil against Croatia at the Corinthians Stadium in Sao Paulo. Brazil takes the win 3-1. Such a great start. I am surprised that on my local Chinese channel there was coverage, a lot of coverage actually and commentary in Chinese is quite interesting. I can actually understand a bit of what they are saying. I guess whether English, Portuguese or Chinese…it’s all the same as far as soccer, futebol, 足球!

Even wore my jersey and havaianas  today!

Adventure For Two

I am from Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, Canada and I'm back from traveling with my husband on an expat assignment to foreign lands. 2011-2012 we were in Shenyang, China. Spring 2012- Spring 2013 we were in Resende,RJ Brazil then back to Shenyang, China in July 2013 until the end of July 2014. Expat life WAS amazing! Adventure abounds no matter where we travel to. We really enjoyed the amazing opportunity to live and experience culture and tradition in these places. BUT now we are finished and adjusting to life in our small town in Canada. Our days of travel and adventure are not over.
