Jagged mountain scenery unfolds like a piece of art…The Western of the Five Great Mountains! Known as “the Number One Precipitous Mountain under Heaven”, Mt. Huashan is one of the five sacred mountains in China. If that doesn’t make David want to climb it I don’t know what will? Oh ya…the crazy, dangerous paths in some places to reach the top! He said if we’re going to Xi’an, I’m doing it!!
The trail is one of the most dangerous in the world and he did it!!! I only went so far on the dangerous ones. I wanted to but I am a little bit afraid of heights.
The trails up Mount Hua Shan involve steep staircases, vertical ascents, and a plank trail consisting of wooden platforms bolted onto the mountainside. The area has been considered holy since at least the 2nd century. The mountain’s highest southern peak reaches 2,160 m (7,087 ft). We did all 4 peaks, the dangerous paths and spent about 7 hours actual climbing and hiking. This was a MUST on our list in Xian and truly a highlight!!
We did it! Another thing off our list 🙂
