Getting ready

We are a week away from our winter vacay to Cambodia and Vietnam. Yes, a tropical one this time. Ahh…I need some sun on my face. 🙂

This past couple weeks I’ve been getting ready. Ya I have a few things laid out ready to pack…shorts, sun dresses, flip flops, bikinis, sunscreen,…the important stuff! But no actually I have been getting ready by doing a lot of research and reading history accounts and historical novels and watching movies ( yep, even watched Lara Croft Tomb Raider again) Trying to get a feel for this place that intrigues me. Cambodia that is! ( Although I am really looking forward to seeing Vietnam too) Ever since Tricia & Alan went to Angkor Wat in Cambodia and I saw their pictures, I’ve wanted to go…REALLY wanted to go!  Then Curt & Wanda went…more great pictures…oh such an interesting place… And now after reading about battles and kingdoms, great empires and their people and the courage they have… I want to go EVEN more.

It’s an almost mystical experience to go through the lost city of Angkor Wat  in northern Cambodia, site of the 9th to 15th century capitals of the vast Khmer Empire. It is HUGE! 154 square miles and with over 100 intricately carved temples, it is the largest religious monument in the world, and truly one of world’s great sights. My biggest question, and one I am sure to ask when I stand there and see it for myself…How do you lose a place like this?

Eeek…I am getting so excited!

Adventure For Two

I am from Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, Canada and I'm back from traveling with my husband on an expat assignment to foreign lands. 2011-2012 we were in Shenyang, China. Spring 2012- Spring 2013 we were in Resende,RJ Brazil then back to Shenyang, China in July 2013 until the end of July 2014. Expat life WAS amazing! Adventure abounds no matter where we travel to. We really enjoyed the amazing opportunity to live and experience culture and tradition in these places. BUT now we are finished and adjusting to life in our small town in Canada. Our days of travel and adventure are not over.
