Take it down, Box it up… PART 2

Two homes, 3 Christmas trees…Had to do it all over again!

Today was actually a beautiful warm -4 degrees, blue sky, sunny day for our first day back in Shenyang. A PERFECT day for putting away Christmas decor and cleaning and organizing!

Last night I got most of our suitcase stuff put away and laundry done. I had a suitcase mishap, a can of vanilla cream icing busted and leaked as well as a bottle of maple syrup, so a few things were a sticky mess. It figures the one time we didn’t put the bottles in ziplock bags. This morning I finished laundry and organized the pantry with all my “comfort” food supplies from home. It was such a beautiful day that I also convinced David to wash the windows. I LOVE my view here and it is so wonderful with shiny clean windows. When we are away for at least a week, our apartment needs a good scouring because the black coal soot seeps through the windows and if it is not regularly cleaned there is a film on everything. I was gonna leave the Christmas trees up until after Chinese New Year but since everything needed a good cleaning I decided I would take it all down.

Ahhh…NOW tonight we are sitting back relaxing in a nice clean, organized apartment. It’s wonderful!! Sorry no pictures yesterday and today. I was too busy to even get the camera out.

What is it about those first days of January that ALWAYS makes me want to clean and organize? Do you feel this way too?

Enjoy your first weekend of 2014. David is back to work tomorrow and all weekend, and so we will be back to routine.

Adventure For Two

I am from Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, Canada and I'm back from traveling with my husband on an expat assignment to foreign lands. 2011-2012 we were in Shenyang, China. Spring 2012- Spring 2013 we were in Resende,RJ Brazil then back to Shenyang, China in July 2013 until the end of July 2014. Expat life WAS amazing! Adventure abounds no matter where we travel to. We really enjoyed the amazing opportunity to live and experience culture and tradition in these places. BUT now we are finished and adjusting to life in our small town in Canada. Our days of travel and adventure are not over.
