The Event of The Year!

Tonight is the event of the Year! It is the ICS Charity Fundraiser and Dinner.

The International Club supports local organizations like the Dream Home Orphanage, LIGHT, Shenyang School for the Blind, and  the eye hospital. Many children from Shenyang benefit from donations raised from events like tonight.

Tonight’s event was held at the Hilton Double Tree Hotel, a 5-star hotel in Shenyang. It was our first year to attend and we were quite excited.

All dressed up and ready to go…

It was so nice to enjoy and share in this event with Tricia & Alan and other friends. Our last big event to do together.

Tonight was especially nice because Tricia, during her time in Shenyang, has been such a huge part of what happens at the orphanage Dream House and these dear sweet children.

Supplying some of their many needs, spending time with, and interacting and loving them is just a small way to be a  part and help in these kids lives. David and I have discussed many times that for now…I  don’t dare go to the orphanage…we just can not bring 2 or 3 Chinese children HOME. I see so many things here that pull at my heartstrings…like this sweet boy at the orphanage who only wants a mommy and daddy to love him.

But charity events like these are a HUGE help! I am just so thankful that a nice evening for some international expats can be so beneficial and be a help in some small way for some local charities through the next year! A job very well done ICS.

Adventure For Two

I am from Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, Canada and I'm back from traveling with my husband on an expat assignment to foreign lands. 2011-2012 we were in Shenyang, China. Spring 2012- Spring 2013 we were in Resende,RJ Brazil then back to Shenyang, China in July 2013 until the end of July 2014. Expat life WAS amazing! Adventure abounds no matter where we travel to. We really enjoyed the amazing opportunity to live and experience culture and tradition in these places. BUT now we are finished and adjusting to life in our small town in Canada. Our days of travel and adventure are not over.
