Sunday Fun With Family

The newlyweds are on their honeymoon in China! That’s right Richard & Danielle are visiting Tricia & Alan as they get a small taste of Middle Kingdom for their honeymoon. This is their only weekend in Shenyang, next weekend they will explore Beijing before heading home. They are all still a little jet lag ( it takes more than a week usually to feel normal again) and this weekend has been cold,  rainy and drizzly here. Unfortunately not a real good opportunity to do a big day trip.

We were just so happy to enjoy some time with our family, so today we drove nearby to a few choice areas.

1st stop…The Tiger Park! A really cool place, we have been before. No baby tigers to cuddle this time BUT we decided to buy a live chicken and some chunks of meat to feed the VERY hungry tigers! A cool experience to see the way they react when they are hungry!

2nd stop…LUNCH at a Chairman Mao themed restaurant! This was soooooooooo cool!

Chairman Mao was the founder of the People’s Republic of China and one of the founders of the Chinese Communist Party. He is a VERY prominent person in Chinese history, and the people loved him. The food, the decor, the way the servers were dressed everything in the restaurant was symbolic of the era when Mao ruled China.

Our last stop of the day…Bei se Chang ( North Market)

From plants and fish to jade and scrolls, tea, vases, guords and anything and everything in between you can find it at Bei se chang. It’s lots of fun to browse the various shops especially with someone who hasn’t been before.

We had a great day with our family but it’s back to work tomorrow!

Adventure For Two

I am from Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, Canada and I'm back from traveling with my husband on an expat assignment to foreign lands. 2011-2012 we were in Shenyang, China. Spring 2012- Spring 2013 we were in Resende,RJ Brazil then back to Shenyang, China in July 2013 until the end of July 2014. Expat life WAS amazing! Adventure abounds no matter where we travel to. We really enjoyed the amazing opportunity to live and experience culture and tradition in these places. BUT now we are finished and adjusting to life in our small town in Canada. Our days of travel and adventure are not over.
