Another Chinese Dinner

Tonight I had another Chinese dinner to attend. It is so great!! David has work dinners that I don’t always get to attend but I also have the odd dinner with some Chinese friends that is just for me!

Ready for dinner!
Ready for dinner!

I look forward to them …ok I am a little nervous BUT it’s here that you see Chinese culture at it’s best. I  don’t understand everything, well I don’t understand a lot  BUT I can observe and I get a feel for what’s happening and my friends that speak a little English will translate and explain most of the time saying…”that’s custom in China…” I love hearing this phrase because it is their way of explaining the differences I see. I have LEARNED so much from these dinners and just talking and asking questions. It’s easier this time because we have established a relationship, a friendship of sorts so now “I CAN” ask the questions that I want an answer to. And if you know Chinese people they have questions too! They want to know ALL about foreigners! haha

Here is some of the delicious food we enjoyed!

And a picture of some of the fellas…

No pictures of the girls this time. Unfortunately I didn’t get chance to snap as many pictures as I would have liked…But it was a fun evening, I enjoy watching all the conversation and interaction, understanding a bit… and I am thankful to get to know some Chinese people and learn about Chinese culture first hand!

Adventure For Two

I am from Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, Canada and I'm back from traveling with my husband on an expat assignment to foreign lands. 2011-2012 we were in Shenyang, China. Spring 2012- Spring 2013 we were in Resende,RJ Brazil then back to Shenyang, China in July 2013 until the end of July 2014. Expat life WAS amazing! Adventure abounds no matter where we travel to. We really enjoyed the amazing opportunity to live and experience culture and tradition in these places. BUT now we are finished and adjusting to life in our small town in Canada. Our days of travel and adventure are not over.
