Yard Work!!

One thing David REALLY misses about the expat life is not having his own place to look after the yard! He loves cutting the grass and doing landscaping and gardening. We have a beautiful yard at home in Canada! I’ll keep looking these pics! But after not being home for 3 years…well…let’s just say it’s not as nice. Not entirely the fault of not being there. Our whole neighborhood has had problems with a weeds and bugs getting in the lawns and the new laws for what products are permitted to use on lawns has not been a good thing. It makes it extremely hard to keep a nice yard in Nova Scotia these days. Some neighbors have resorted to growing clover just so it stays green.

Anyway, the last few days some neighbors have been out in their gardens and the grounds keepers have been cutting the grass here in Venice. I LOVE the smell of freshly cut grass and in China it is an even more welcome smell! I sat for maybe an hour yesterday and watched…

and played with my turtle babies…do you want to see them?

Check out the video! Sorry it’s a little noisy, you wouldn’t think you would hear a lawn mower 16 floors up! Xiao Ting (the girl poses for hours on the rock) while Xiao Wei ( the boy) like to be active, really active. Yesterday it was too cute…the girl swatted the boy with her front leg and he flipped on his shell  for about 10 seconds before turning upright. Not sure what that was all about.  It is so funny to watch them interact. I wish I could get some of these times on video.

This week I’ve been home, just enjoying my apartment and researching a lot about Malaysia & Singapore. We leave on Sunday to vacay in these countries. Only 3 more sleeps!

Adventure For Two

I am from Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, Canada and I'm back from traveling with my husband on an expat assignment to foreign lands. 2011-2012 we were in Shenyang, China. Spring 2012- Spring 2013 we were in Resende,RJ Brazil then back to Shenyang, China in July 2013 until the end of July 2014. Expat life WAS amazing! Adventure abounds no matter where we travel to. We really enjoyed the amazing opportunity to live and experience culture and tradition in these places. BUT now we are finished and adjusting to life in our small town in Canada. Our days of travel and adventure are not over.
