Rainy Days and Sunday

I am so tired!!! The last two days since we have been at our apartment I have been pooped! I think I am trying to get too much accomplished and getting up at 5 am mornings doesn’t help. It is just so nice to be in our place and I am feeling more settled already.

Yesterday was a hot, hazy, high pollution day and we went out of the city to the Lotus Garden which helped but these kind of days still tire you out!

Today when I woke up, it was raining and I am actually thankful because it means if we get a good rain, the air will clear and tomorrow will be blue skies!

Today we want to rest, well sort of. David starts 12 hour shift tomorrow and he needs to get rested for that and we also need to get some supplies and groceries for our apartment. A great way to spend a rainy day.

Initial grocery shopping for a new place is kinda fun, well some people enjoy it! You get to stock the pantry, cupboards and refrigerator with all the basics. We had a few stops on our list today… Ikea for some household items and a few favorite Swedish grocery items ( sparkling pear juice, frozen salmon, Swedish meat balls, coffee and of course bars of chocolate) Metro ( like Costco, sort of) for some more groceries and my favorite flower shop for a white orchid( I already have a purple one) and some white lilies.

A visit to Ikea in China is ALWAYS an interesting experience. It is a place for a photo shoot, a great place to have an afternoon nap or just let the kids play in the model rooms while the adults socialize. And you have to make sure you pick up your 3rmb hotdog a 1rmb ice cream.Sea cucumbers at Metro. These guys are on my list of things to try this time.

This is my favorite flower shop! It smells wonderful 🙂

We got home mid afternoon and relaxed a bit and I cooked supper for the first time in our apartment. Chicken fajitas with sparkling pear juice. Delish!

Tonight we are relaxing on our VERY comfy couch and enjoying the view!

A great weekend 🙂

Adventure For Two

I am from Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, Canada and I'm back from traveling with my husband on an expat assignment to foreign lands. 2011-2012 we were in Shenyang, China. Spring 2012- Spring 2013 we were in Resende,RJ Brazil then back to Shenyang, China in July 2013 until the end of July 2014. Expat life WAS amazing! Adventure abounds no matter where we travel to. We really enjoyed the amazing opportunity to live and experience culture and tradition in these places. BUT now we are finished and adjusting to life in our small town in Canada. Our days of travel and adventure are not over.
