FINK part.2~ Packing it All Up!

Today is THE day that the FINK Shipping Company is here to pack us all up! We are used to this process. In Canada, we packed for China- In China, we packed to ship everything back to Canada. In Canada, we packed for Brazil- and NOW In Brazil, we are packing for China!

I think the MOST interesting experience was in China to ship everything back to Canada before we repacked for Brazil. SO MANY Chinese guys in our apartment that day, so efficient…some bringing in boxes and paper, some making boxes to fit specialty items( the Chinese are the BEST at making custom fit boxes) some packing and others doing inventory of the boxes. It was so much fun to watch.

Today, 4 guys from FINK  arrived at 1pm sharp and started the task of boxing all our things. All speaking Portuguese. Theses guys were great too! 23 boxes and 3 hours later they were done and we are back to a bare bones apartment with only the stuff that goes in our suitcases ( I hope I can fit everything) and the stuff that belongs with the apartment. It looks pretty empty. But it’s just a week from today left and we are going away for our last weekend here. Shouldn’t be too bad!

The apartment looks pretty empty

especially the spare room where all our stuff was to be shipped.

It only takes 3-4 days for our stuff to arrive in Shenyang BUT we’ll need to wait until we get our permanent apartment there. Stay tuned…coming in a week or so when we land in China, a blog all about our apartment options this time around 🙂

Well, I am really hoping and praying our stuff reaches Rio tonight and there are no issues with it until it gets shipped to China. Of all days to have to do a shipment… There have been MAJOR protests and demonstrations in Brazil  all week, LOTS scheduled for Rio today, probably one outside the Maracana, seeing as there’s a game there this afternoon.  Even one in our town, Resende this evening. It’s not a fun place to be right now. Protesters are claiming they are peaceful BUT Peaceful demonstrations having been turning violent and a lot of destruction and looting gets done. Downtown Resende shut down at 2pm this afternoon because of the protest this evening. Needless to say, we are staying home!

Here’s a link to some pictures of the protest in Campos Elisios

In Resende tonight!

Have a good evening. Maybe I will even pack a suitcase to make sure everything is gonna fit 😉

Adventure For Two

I am from Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, Canada and I'm back from traveling with my husband on an expat assignment to foreign lands. 2011-2012 we were in Shenyang, China. Spring 2012- Spring 2013 we were in Resende,RJ Brazil then back to Shenyang, China in July 2013 until the end of July 2014. Expat life WAS amazing! Adventure abounds no matter where we travel to. We really enjoyed the amazing opportunity to live and experience culture and tradition in these places. BUT now we are finished and adjusting to life in our small town in Canada. Our days of travel and adventure are not over.
