Life in Brasil is ALL about Futebol!
You REALLY can not live a year plus a few months in Brasil without lovin’ THE game…or at the very least developing an appreciation for it! And we have…After all, we have learned it is really THE ONLY thing that matters here…at least to MOST of the country!
We will still continue to watch our North American football when we can see it ( OK, I am the COWBOYS fan- David is supportive haha) but this year we have really developed a love for soccer, known as futebol!
This weekend, JUNE 15, the FIFA Confederations Cup Games begin! Six stadiums, in six different cities in Brazil, and 8 amazing teams! It’s REALLY gonna be something to watch. There has been a lot of news coverage this week showcasing all the newly renovated stadiums for this event, and the big events coming to Brazil in the next 2 years. We even met a young guy from France who traveled to Brazil just for the games and will be traveling the country watching matches in the different venues as he does sight seeing in the cities.
We don’t have tickets for these games…our BIG highlight was the FIRST public game in the Maracana, the Brazil and England game, a kickoff to these Confederation games. Friends of ours, expats ( Mexicans and Italians) have tickets for the Italy vs. Mexico game! It’s gonna be a highlight for them for sure!! Like I said, no matter who you are and what country you are from, if you weren’t a futebol fan before coming to Brazil…you WILL be when you leave!
PS. WE may not be going to one of the stadiums, BUT WE will be watching the games and cheering for Brasil. Let the games begin!
