What we do when we stay in Resende on a Saturday

Saturday morning in Resende, RJ, Brazil and what is our favorite thing to do when we stay in this city?

Get our tan on by the pool of course! Soaking in some rays feels so nice BUT big problem now that it is Fall. The pool hours must be shorter because the life guard didn’t show until 10:30 this morning and by then most of the sun time in the pool area is over. Because it is Fall heading into Winter next month, there is sun from about 8am until 1pm at the pool. Well from about 8-9:30 it’s cold, well I think it’s cold ( 22 degrees) and then the sun shifts so there is only so many sun areas on our balcony and at the pool. On our balcony we only have sun now from 8 am until almost 10am. Anyway…by the time the lifeguard showed up David & I weren’t convinced it was gonna be warm enough to bare down to our bikinis and we opted to go shopping downtown, our second favorite thing on a Saturday morning. I say morning because as you’ve heard me mention before, stores and shops close their doors anywhere from noon til 2pm for the rest of the day on Saturdays.

It’s such a nice walk along the river from our place or we take an alternate route through the city and across the bridge so that we can browse in all the shops. Lots of fun! I am so happy David enjoys doing this, most men don’t like to shop.

We picked up a few things we needed, had fun looking around, even bought a couple clothes items. BUT most of all we just enjoyed our morning together!

After lunch we went out to another favorite place…Penedo. There were a few new shops open and we also wanted to check out menus at some restaurants that we are thinking of going to in the next weeks.

Saturday is a great day for shopping, right? Off to Patio Mix then. Brazil has the BEST shoes for men and women!

And an afternoon snack for David.

What a great day. And the perfect way to finish it off… a nice dinner at a restaurant. Tonight we enjoyed rodízio de camarão. Shrimp, all you can eat prepared many different and interesting ways.

Dressed for winter...it's so COLD in the evenings!

Adventure For Two

I am from Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, Canada and I'm back from traveling with my husband on an expat assignment to foreign lands. 2011-2012 we were in Shenyang, China. Spring 2012- Spring 2013 we were in Resende,RJ Brazil then back to Shenyang, China in July 2013 until the end of July 2014. Expat life WAS amazing! Adventure abounds no matter where we travel to. We really enjoyed the amazing opportunity to live and experience culture and tradition in these places. BUT now we are finished and adjusting to life in our small town in Canada. Our days of travel and adventure are not over.
