The Biggest Celebrations of the Year!

Get ready to CELEBRATE!!!

From Brazil to China…this weekend, starting tomorrow,  is the beginning of the Biggest Celebrations of the Year for both countries. In Brazil, it’s Carnival and in China, it’s Spring Festival ( or Chinese New Year) Both events are HUGE in their countries and it just so happens that this year they are at roughly the same time.

In BRAZIL

And in CHINA

Both of these celebrations include a lot of various festivities, time with family, and travel. Many Brazilians, Chinese and expats we know use this extended time off work to travel. We booked a week vacation at the end of Carnaval, and plan to do some day trips this weekend and early next week. ( Once we realized David had an extended weekend, we tried to book a couple overnights BUT everything we wanted was SOLD OUT!!) Many of our friends are traveling…we have friends spending the time in Rio for all the BIG celebrations, we have family in China visiting Cambodia, as well as friends traveling in Australia/New Zealand, Thailand and Hawaii. It so nice to have the break mid winter. As for us…next week this time we will be getting packed for our Caribbean cruise! I can’t wait!!

All this week has been kind blah and rainy so I have been inside researching and doing computer stuff. Hope the weekend weather is nice…(maybe a BIG snowstorm for NS?)

Have a great day!

Adventure For Two

I am from Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, Canada and I'm back from traveling with my husband on an expat assignment to foreign lands. 2011-2012 we were in Shenyang, China. Spring 2012- Spring 2013 we were in Resende,RJ Brazil then back to Shenyang, China in July 2013 until the end of July 2014. Expat life WAS amazing! Adventure abounds no matter where we travel to. We really enjoyed the amazing opportunity to live and experience culture and tradition in these places. BUT now we are finished and adjusting to life in our small town in Canada. Our days of travel and adventure are not over.
