On Sunday, David and I went exploring again…
Destination~ Vassouras in the Paraiba River Valley
This is coffee region, also known as coffee valley. Vassouras is about an hour or so from Resende and is well known for its preserved historic farmhouses built during the Coffee Cycle in 1830-1850.
Vassouras actually means “brooms” comes from a plant used in broom manufacturing. We learned though that Vassouras is a college town as well as popular getaway for Rio residents.
Unfortunately because it was Sunday many of the shops, museums and cultural sites were closed. We didn’t realize that a visit to one of these famous coffee houses had to be booked in advance! Oh well, we wandered around the downtown a bit, went to the Barao de Campo Belo Square and just explored some out of the way places. We stopped here and there when we saw something interesting to photograph and just had a great day exploring together. I knew once David had a camera of his own that does some cool stuff, that we would have so much fun…it’s true, he “sees” things differently now!
Here are some pictures along the way on our road trip to Vassouras…
Wishing you all a great new week! Boa Tarde
