WE are back from a whirlwind tour of RIO!!! We have been thrilled to have our three children visit us in Brazil. Each at different times so it has been very nice. Everyone coming to Brazil HAS to see Rio and as you know there are certain destinations in that city that are very famous and can not be missed!!
This weekend it was Laura’s turn. And while the weather was calling for RAIN and more RAIN all weekend, and going to a city that is famous for it’s beaches and outdoor sights may not be a good idea, we had to do it!! After all when will she get to Brazil again to see the Christ Statue and be able to lay on Copacabana beach?
There will not be a lot of detail description of the Rio tour…my regular readers, you have seen these places before with our other visitors. But I wanted to share Laura’s visit to Rio so…
Here is a photo tour of our Weekend in Rio!
Our first stop…Christ The Redeemer Statue~ Brazil’s MOST famous landmark!
Copacabana Beach is the most famous beach in Rio and it just happens to be our favorite. We like to get a hotel just a block or so from this beach when we go to Rio. It was nice to have a little beach time before it rained!
We were really hoping the rain would hold off for one more stop. Sugar Loaf late in the afternoon so we could see it daytime and then at sunset and at night. However, alot of people had the same idea and by the time we had our tickets purchased the fog and rain clouds rolled in and we got caught in the forecasted rain…oh well, at least she got there and it was a different experience!
We ended our day Saturday with a nice hot meal at a Geisha- a Japanese restaurant
Sunday Morning in Rio…
Laura enjoys the beach as much as I do so we wanted to makes sure she saw all the famous Rio beaches. A quick salgado for lunch then Next stop…Ipanema Beach!
We wanted to see Selaron’s stairs after his murder. It is sad that Laura couldn’t have met this famous artist! There was a lot of police security this time…
On the way to Barra beach we stopped at a wonderful look off area so Laura could see a great view of Ipanema
As we were driving to Barra beach, Laura let out a squeal from the backseat! On the side of the road, beside a canal were three Capybaras…the largest I have seen yet. They are the world’s largest rodent and Laura thinks they look like the Chewie the guinea pig she had as a kid…on steroids!
