The Wheels on the bus go round and round…all the way to Penedo

I was up early this morning and the sky was amazing as the sun was coming up!!

It is a beautiful morning for a trip to Penedo with the girls…by bus.

Actually it turned out to be a scorcher day. It was so hot walking around Penedo that it was nice to stop in some of the cool shops as well as take some photos of interesting foliage in secret gardens…

The village of Penedo is the first Finnish colony in Brazil. Penedo was settled by Finnish immigrants in 1929. The Scandinavian  style of  houses has been preserved, and the village has kept its European charm. Penedo is a place for many local artisians, as well as a popular destination for adventure seekers. Rappelling, mountaineering and horseback riding are among the options. It is a place to enjoy the nature trails and waterfalls, and just breathe the fresh mountain air.  Penedo is famous for the Papa Noel Village. Of course we had to show Laura around…

We got back to the apartment just in time for Laura to have a quick nap ( the sun on days like today is very tiring) before David got home and then they went for a refreshing dip in the pool.

Tonight we had a real treat. A friend of ours from Shenyang, China…well originally from Nova Scotia is in Brazil and we had chance to have dinner. You’ll remember last year Curt visited Shenyang because he and his wife Wanda were moving there. Well Curt and Wanda now live in Shenyang and Curt was in Brazil this week for business with a couple colleagues.  We were happy it worked out for us to see him and have dinner together! Wanda, I  wish you were here too!!

Well we are off to Rio bright and early in the morning, like REALLY early!!! We need to make the most of the two days we have to show Laura around. So far the weather has been perfect but tomorrow and Sunday the forecast is showers. Wish us luck…there are famous sights that depend on the weather. I am not taking my computer this weekend, I am taking a day break so I will do our Rio weekend blog on Sunday evening when we return.

Have a great weekend!!

Adventure For Two

I am from Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, Canada and I'm back from traveling with my husband on an expat assignment to foreign lands. 2011-2012 we were in Shenyang, China. Spring 2012- Spring 2013 we were in Resende,RJ Brazil then back to Shenyang, China in July 2013 until the end of July 2014. Expat life WAS amazing! Adventure abounds no matter where we travel to. We really enjoyed the amazing opportunity to live and experience culture and tradition in these places. BUT now we are finished and adjusting to life in our small town in Canada. Our days of travel and adventure are not over.
