Unknown Roads and Towns and No Agenda…lead to some great pictures!

We slept in this morning. David, the lazy bum (just joking) believe it or not slept in until 10 o’clock!!! Haha, we just DON’T do that!

The day started off overcast so as we got around and had our coffee and a bite to eat we decided it would be a great day to explore a place we have not been to before. You see…we have 3 months or so ( a little more/a little less) in Brazil and I am already on China mode! I am creeping my friends blogs, looking at our China pics, reading China news…you get the idea… and so that means NOW is the TIME to see all the places we haven’t been and want to see…those little places and stops along the Dutra and in small towns that we always say…some day! Well someday is NOW! If we are gonna see them we have to start ticking them off one at a time on our days off!

David was looking at Google maps to see where a few roads would lead and came up with a great idea for an adventure so we set off, cameras in hand, both excited to get some great shots… of a HUGE dam! The Furnas Dam is nearby in Itatiaia. You can actually see it from a distance from the look off when you go to the National Park in Itatiaia and we wanted to get up close.

We found the right roads to take but unfortunately there was a gated secured area with NO ADMITTANCE! There must be another way in so David plans to ask some of his Brazilian friends. It will be adventure for another day. We got some great shots along the way though.

We also stopped along the Dutra at a few spots…

Went to see the construction of the Nissan plant…

Saw these really cool birds while I was waiting for David…

And went for a small tour of the nearby town of Porto Real.Porto Real is really small but we had fun driving around seeing what the locals do and looking at the wildlife.

I love days like this…no agendas, exploring new places, getting some fun pictures, enjoying it with my sweetie…what more could I ask for? Hope you had a GREAT Saturday!!

Adventure For Two

I am from Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, Canada and I'm back from traveling with my husband on an expat assignment to foreign lands. 2011-2012 we were in Shenyang, China. Spring 2012- Spring 2013 we were in Resende,RJ Brazil then back to Shenyang, China in July 2013 until the end of July 2014. Expat life WAS amazing! Adventure abounds no matter where we travel to. We really enjoyed the amazing opportunity to live and experience culture and tradition in these places. BUT now we are finished and adjusting to life in our small town in Canada. Our days of travel and adventure are not over.
