Summer…in January? What is it REALLY like where you live?

YES, that is CORRECT!!! and I get that question a lot! What is it like in Brazil these days?

Well this morning it is raining!

It is Summer in Brazil and with summer comes HOT days…I am talking 40 degrees in the sun HOT days, and EVENING storms pretty much everyday. Haha even the forecast says thunderstorms EVERYDAY, even though we get beautiful sunny pool weather. I guess by posting thunderstorms everyday no one gets mad when the thunder clouds roll in and it down pours! Somehow the temperature always seem a little bit off too…

Just looking at the forecast for Rio you would think all we ever get is thunderstorms BUT that is further from the truth even though EVERY day we do! It’s kinda weird that way because it is beautiful all day ( well except today, the rain started early) and then it never fails… by 4pm, sometimes earlier like yesterday, the clouds roll in and it starts! I just try hard not to be caught outside in it when it happens because it is a MAJOR downpour! BUT At least, it is fresh clean rain and warm 🙂

The clouds roll in…

A lot of rain in a short time means I am always mopping up my balcony 🙂

In all honesty, I have to admit…I do love spending WINTER where it is SUMMER and it is actually quite nice to have these temperatures all year round, well especially when you get to take a home trip when you need your snow and cold fix!

This year we will be cruising once again in February. We always look forward to that bit of summer heat in the middle of winter but this year David & I joke about going to the Caribbean to escape the heat for more moderate temperatures…only 38 days BUT who is counting?

Hope you’re enjoying a GREAT week! Tomorrow is Friday already!

Ok… so I am updating this post tonight. TODAY was the type of day that by looking at this week’s forecast you would assume we have all the time. Today it actually did rain ALL day!!! Some enjoy this but it makes me sleepy and all I want to do then is nap and hibernate in my apartment. Hope tomorrow is a sunny by the pool day…at least until late afternoon 🙂

Rainy and drizzly!
Rainy and drizzly!
A great day to enjoy some homemade fish chowder.

Adventure For Two

I am from Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, Canada and I'm back from traveling with my husband on an expat assignment to foreign lands. 2011-2012 we were in Shenyang, China. Spring 2012- Spring 2013 we were in Resende,RJ Brazil then back to Shenyang, China in July 2013 until the end of July 2014. Expat life WAS amazing! Adventure abounds no matter where we travel to. We really enjoyed the amazing opportunity to live and experience culture and tradition in these places. BUT now we are finished and adjusting to life in our small town in Canada. Our days of travel and adventure are not over.
