This morning wasn’t looking good it was still overcast and so we went for a walk along Ipanema.

As we were walking the sky started to get bright so we thought we would try to see Sugar Loaf. It is close to Copacabana beach and we figured since it was starting to get bright and the blue skies peeking through it would work. When we got there the lines were so long!!! I have NEVER seen anything like it. I think ALL the tourists and tour guides had the same idea and maybe because the weather the last few days really has not been cooperating. Even though we really wanted to see Sugar Loaf we decided not to wait.  Maybe we would try Christ Statue again. We went to the Trem and this time it was only a 45minute wait BUT…the fog was so bad on that side of the mountain you definitely could not see the view or even the Christ. Hmm? We’ll have to try again tomorrow.

I was feeling so bad because we have not encountered such awful rainy, foggy weather our whole 7 months being in Brazil and here Andrew & Kristina arrives and we want to show them all these spectacular things and the fog is so thick.

We decided to go back to Copacabana, rent some beach chairs and sit on the beach anyway. Well it turned out to be really nice and after about 3 hours on the beach we were all burned to a crisp! Andrew & Kristina got their beach time and some nice color!

Late afternoon was beautiful so we decided to give Sugar Loaf another try! Again crazy long lines but we didn’t have to be anywhere…AND it was well worth the wait. We were rewarded with a beautiful view and even a baby monkey that ate out of Andrew’s hand! The line for the cable car down was much longer and so we got day time, sunset and evening pictures. It was beautiful!

We finished off our day with a delicious Italian buffet.

One more day and still lots to see and more beach time…

Did I mention how much I love having FAMILY here 🙂

Boa Noite!

Adventure For Two

I am from Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, Canada and I'm back from traveling with my husband on an expat assignment to foreign lands. 2011-2012 we were in Shenyang, China. Spring 2012- Spring 2013 we were in Resende,RJ Brazil then back to Shenyang, China in July 2013 until the end of July 2014. Expat life WAS amazing! Adventure abounds no matter where we travel to. We really enjoyed the amazing opportunity to live and experience culture and tradition in these places. BUT now we are finished and adjusting to life in our small town in Canada. Our days of travel and adventure are not over.
