We did! I spent all day yesterday looking at options. David called from work yesterday afternoon and confirmed that we DO NOT have any vacation time left this year! Sad as it is, I didn’t let that stop me! Actually we have a week with our son and his girlfriend in November and 2 weeks at Christmas that we are really looking forward to. But like I said yesterday, we haven’t done as much traveling in Brazil and my inner adventure spirit was in need of a fun trip just for us! The best we could do was a couple long weekend trips. There is a holiday next weekend October 12 and a holiday November 2. Add those to the weekend and all I needed to figure out was where?
I didn’t realize that booking at the last minute was so much more expensive and also very hard to get flights for decent times to make the most of these trips. In one case we spent over an hour on the phone with an agent and was able to find something and for the other trip spent at least 40 minutes without him coming up with a decent flight. I found one I liked but we paid much more by booking at the last minute, especially for next weekend!
So…where are we going, you ask?
Next weekend is Salvador, Bahia in Brazil
Salvador is the largest city on the northeast coast of Brazil and the capital of the Northeastern state of Bahia. The first colonial capital of Brazil, the city is one of the oldest in the Americas. For a long time, it was simply known as Bahia.
And in November…
the country of Argentina! We will spend a long weekend in the capital, Buenos Aries.
Buenos Aries is the capital and largest city of Argentina, and the second-largest metropolitan area in South America, next to Sao Paulo. Buenos Aires is rated one of the 20 largest cities in the world.
As you can see I am pretty excited! Two trips planned in the next few weeks, our son and his girlfriend come to Brazil the middle of November, and then we are home to Canada for Christmas! Time to go and plan an itinerary for these trips, there is just so much to see…
Happy Friday! Enjoy your Thanksgiving long weekend in Canada!
