David & I needed a relaxing beach day and somehow driving 2 hours to go to the beach  doesn’t seem too bad anymore! I used to think we had the nicest beaches in Nova Scotia Canada, and don’t get me wrong, they are AMAZING! Nova Scotia isn’t called “Canada’s Ocean Playground” for nothing. But…we have come to really love the beaches here in Brazil, especially Rio. And even though they are all very nice for many and various reasons, we keep going back to Copacabana the most. And the way we look at it…It’s not everyday that you get to enjoy the sun on a beach in Brazil, South America. We are making the most of our time here!

Up and at it early to beat the traffic in to Rio!

Up at sunrise on a Saturday morning! It’s OK when I know I am going to the beach 🙂
Headin’ out…
A little bit foggy this morning…it will clear by the time we reach Rio
Our favorite halfway point…pee stop and coffee to go…
or sometimes we get a snack there…especially if the brownies look good!

On the beach by 9:30 am, not too bad! And it was a gorgeous day. A nice little breeze blowing off the water and temperatures are definitely getting warmer now that we are soon in to Spring here. It doesn’t take long to feel the heat’s intensity and start getting some color, so we try to be careful and stay well hydrated. ( although today we both got a little crispy)

Going early means you can choose your space before the crowds come

David & I lovin’ our beach time!

4 hours is more than plenty of sun on a hot day so we left the city at 2pm to beat the traffic again.

Traffic around the lagoa, Christ Statue in the distance

Snapped this picture while we were sitting in traffic…orchids will grow anywhere you place them here!

It was a nice Saturday afternoon drive home. We were back in Resende by 4:30pm. Not too bad!

This is an old house on the hillside that I want to get a picture of someday when the clouds and the lighting are right…there’s usually cattle on the hillside too. Not today though…
This morning when we left Resende these two horses were just by themselves grazing on the lawn of a business ( I didn’t get a picture) This afternoon when we came back they were crossing the road across the street from the same business. I guess it was time for them to go home…so funny!

There’s nothing like a day at the beach that makes you feel so good, I am so happy that David is a beach person too! Now that this post is done, I’ve got to make dinner and then maybe we’ll watch a movie. Hope you’re enjoying your Saturday!

Boa Noite!

Adventure For Two

I am from Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, Canada and I'm back from traveling with my husband on an expat assignment to foreign lands. 2011-2012 we were in Shenyang, China. Spring 2012- Spring 2013 we were in Resende,RJ Brazil then back to Shenyang, China in July 2013 until the end of July 2014. Expat life WAS amazing! Adventure abounds no matter where we travel to. We really enjoyed the amazing opportunity to live and experience culture and tradition in these places. BUT now we are finished and adjusting to life in our small town in Canada. Our days of travel and adventure are not over.

Wish it had worked out for us to go with you or at least see you when we are home but sadly we will be back in Brazil before you get to the NS part of your home trip! We really miss you guys. Thank goodness for FB and Blogs to keep up! Have fun on your vacation, I can’t wait to read all about it!
