10 Days To Show James The Place We Call HOME in Brazil: DAY 5

TODAYS HIGHLIGHTS: THE FAMOUS SIGHTS OF RIO… Favela Tour,  Copacabana & Ipanema Beaches, and a Taste of Coco and Churros!

Rio is full of Favelas. One thing James insisted we must do was a Favela tour. We arranged for a private tour this morning early at 8:30 so he would be able to get some really great pictures. We went to the most well known Rocinha Favela. It is the same one we went to with Martin & Rebecca, only this time it was a little bit different route. Rejane picked us up along with our guide Louisa, the one who we had before. It was so great to see her again and I am glad we had her to do the tour with James because Rocinha is her home. She took us to the roof top of a friend’s and the view was incredible!  I had fun taking photos but James was able to capture some amazing photos of life in the Favela for his portfolio.

Up and at it bright and early for our Favela tour!

This sweet little lady is 77 years old!!! The same age as the Favela! She was so sweet getting her picture taken 🙂

I think I enjoy and appreciate this more each time we visit!

The beaches in Rio are fabulous!! Ipanema and Copacabana, being the two famous ones. On the way back to the hotel from the Favela tour, we stopped for some pics of Ipanema beach also Rejane and Louisa showed us a perfect spot to capture sunset pictures. We got a quick lunch at one of the street cafes before hitting Copacabana beach for an afternoon of sun and finished off our beach experience with James watching the sun set over Ipanema Beach.

Ahhh….a refreshing Coco on the beach!

We just had to stop for a delicious doce de leite filled Churro…

And…We finished our AMAZING day with a delicious dinner at the OUTBACK!!

Adventure For Two

I am from Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, Canada and I'm back from traveling with my husband on an expat assignment to foreign lands. 2011-2012 we were in Shenyang, China. Spring 2012- Spring 2013 we were in Resende,RJ Brazil then back to Shenyang, China in July 2013 until the end of July 2014. Expat life WAS amazing! Adventure abounds no matter where we travel to. We really enjoyed the amazing opportunity to live and experience culture and tradition in these places. BUT now we are finished and adjusting to life in our small town in Canada. Our days of travel and adventure are not over.
