The Land of Bikinis and Speedos!

Well, never did I think David & I would at this age and stage in our lives be wearing bikinis and speedos! But…we are in the land where everyone at the beach is sporting these tiny pieces of fabric…and some are smaller than others.

At the beach in Brazil, especially in Rio, you see men and women of all ages, shapes and sizes wearing bikinis. It is really out of place to be in anything else. And it’s not just at the beach. You see them walking and jogging on the sidewalk, in the convenience store, getting on a bus…

When we were first dating…back in the 80’s, bikinis and speedos were popular and we wore them then. A few years later, I remember looking back at pics saying “What were we thinking?” Haha and now 28 or so years later here we are wearing them again…well in Brazil…probably not ever in Canada!

Here are some pics…just so you know what I am talking about ( I am trying to be conservative)

It starts young!

There are also lots of bikini shops and you can even buy them right on the beach

I think we’ll just stick to wearing them in Brazil… 🙂

Haha, we won’t be sporting our bikinis for the camera!

Have a good week everyone!!!  I am counting weeks now because only 2 weeks till James comes…

Adventure For Two

I am from Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, Canada and I'm back from traveling with my husband on an expat assignment to foreign lands. 2011-2012 we were in Shenyang, China. Spring 2012- Spring 2013 we were in Resende,RJ Brazil then back to Shenyang, China in July 2013 until the end of July 2014. Expat life WAS amazing! Adventure abounds no matter where we travel to. We really enjoyed the amazing opportunity to live and experience culture and tradition in these places. BUT now we are finished and adjusting to life in our small town in Canada. Our days of travel and adventure are not over.

  1. Hi, Where Tim is those would not be allowed, not even in their clubhouse pool, has to be a one piece bathing suit for girls/women. One cannot even wear shorts in any public place, and many days in the 40’s. Its been very hot here past few days, and humid too. Glad you are enjoying Brazil.

    1. Yes…It is very interesting the different cultures. Tricia mentioned that Quatar was that way. I think when summer arrives here in Brazil it will be very warm too. It is winter and the temperatures range from 28-32 most days. It is always so nice to hear from you. 🙂
